Outright gifts of cash, stock or property make an immediate impact and can fund an annual gift or an endowment.  These gifts also offer the benefit of an income tax deduction.

Planned gifts are most often from a bequest in your will, by beneficiary designation of retirement assets or a life insurance policy, or by funding a trust.  Some planned gifts offer income for a period of years or life, or allow you to continue to live in your house in the case of a retained life estate.  Depending upon the nature of the gift, you might receive an income tax deduction.
