Western Carolina University is an educational value.  As a campus of the University of North Carolina system, WCU receives support that extends beyond student fees. On average, for each full-time student enrolled in a UNC institution, N.C. appropriates nearly $13,000 per year in public funds to support the educational programs offered. Those savings are already reflected in tuition and fees and are the biggest reason that WCU tuition and fee levels are lower than those of many colleges and universities, especially for N.C. residents Those resources give you more bang for your educational buck. If you have not already done so, visit Cullowhee to see the difference being a UNC campus makes.

WCU also manages resources to minimize your expenses and maximize your collegiate experience. From being one of the few universities in our state or the country to incorporate an undergraduate textbook rental program within our fees to offering an extensive variety of student activities at low or no cost (i.e., activity fees for campus-based students include free admission to all campus Catamount sporting events), WCU understands the value of a dollar.

Numerous university and external resources may assist in financing your education. From financial aid to scholarships to assistantships to student employment, a majority of students who attend WCU receive support through one or more sources. Be sure to research funding opportunities through your school counselor or within your local community. Many civic organizations provide scholarships that may be used at any college or university. You will find links to numerous resources here that may assist you with financing your WCU education and that will underscore just how much of an educational value WCU truly is.
