Transfer Guide Overview
Transfer Guides, formerly known as Baccalaureate Degree Plans (BDPs) have been developed by University of North Carolina universities to help NC Community College (NCCC) students have more seamless transfer experiences. Transfer Guides have been created to support NCCC students who are pursuing a transfer pathway outlined by the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) or other specified Uniformed Articulation Agreement (UAA). Transfer Guides outline meaningful coursework at the community college that leads to both associate degree completion and bachelor degree completion at a student’s intended university.
Using Transfer Guides
To create an effective transfer plan using the Transfer Guides, students should:
Note: Some information on the Transfer Guides may not apply to students transferring prior to associate degree completion and/or dual-enrolled high school students. These students are encouraged to speak with their community college advisor and intended university for more information and guidance on NCCC course selection.
Transfer Guide Details
Each Transfer Guide provides important transfer information including admissions requirements, NCCC course recommendations, university equivalency information, and remaining university coursework needed upon transferring.
Note: Transfer Guides are not currently in place for students earning an Associate degree in Fine Arts or Teacher Preparation. However, the previous pathways still exist below pending the creation of new Transfer Guides to accommodate these programs.
All NCCC course recommendations on the Transfer Guides are labeled as one of the following to help students select the most meaningful CC coursework and to better understand the university requirement fulfilled by the recommended courses:
Additional Transfer Student Information
Keep in mind, if you earn your Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Engineering
(AE) or Associate of Science (AS), your liberal studies requirements are waived at
WCU. Because of certain course sequences, some majors may not be completed in four(4)
years. Please plan accordingly.
If your college does not offer a required course, choose another elective option to
complete your AA or AS. However, realize that course will need to be completed for
the degree, which may require more time at WCU. You can also check the Virtual Learning Community to see if the course is offered at another local community college or online. Please
speak with your advisor to determine what will be the best course of action for you.
If no specific class is indicated, take a class that completes that general requirement.
If a student is not earning an AA or AS, your course work will be evaluated on a case by case basis and it will be necessary to complete the liberal studies requirements for WCU. Use this guide to determine what NCCC courses will fulfill which liberal studies categories at WCU. If you have further questions, please contact the Advising Center at 828.227.7753.
