Message from the Chief

Welcome to Western Carolina University. I hope that you find the Police Department’s website both informative and easy to navigate. It is my goal to ensure that each member of our community is well informed regarding the services that are available, as well as the efforts that are taken to create a safe and secure learning environment for all.

The information contained within this site includes an introduction to the staff that stand ready to serve you, essential links to our campus partners and annual reports, statistical data, and the different ways that you can file a report or communicate with the police department. I hope that you find this website beneficial and informative related to the daily operations of the police department and the telecommunications center.

We are committed to ensuring that everyone associated with WCU has a safe and secure environment in which to achieve their academic goals. As a means of an introduction, I’d like to share the current structure of the WCU Police Department.

The department consists of four key sections that provide various services to our community: Administrative Services, Patrol Services, Investigative Services, and Emergency Communications Services. Within these areas, our staff continue to perform a variety of duties to ensure that WCU remains a safe place.

In addition to these Police Services, we also continue to focus on strengthening our existing partnerships as well as creating new opportunities to collaborate with our ever-changing community. Through these partnerships we will have a larger impact on our community and will increase our positive interactions with our students.

We remain vigilant and committed to our tasks and continuously train in preparation to counter any crisis that arises, and we continue to recruit and promote quality, capable employees that understand our environment and are willing to serve our community with distinction. These efforts will ensure that our ideals will continue with the next generation of leaders at WCU.
