Established in July 2007, the David Orr Belcher College of Fine and Performing Arts is the only college dedicated to the arts among University of North Carolina system universities. Faculty members (56 full time, including two endowed chairs) are accomplished professional artists who train and guide more than 600 majors on their own pathways to professional artistry. From a selective admissions process through graduation, our students are part of ongoing "great experiences" through the creation of art, teaching and advocacy.

Donors play an important and acknowledged role in the college's continued service to the campus and community. Support is needed for scholarships, instruments, facilities and performances.

The Catamount Club is charged with generating the resources necessary for the enrichment and development of WCU student-athletes as they strive to become champions in the classroom, on the field, and in life. Your support creates the opportunity for our Catamount student-athletes to achieve comprehensive excellence academically and athletically through earning their college degrees while also competing for championships.

Our student-athletes are ambassadors for Western Carolina University and our community, and your generosity allows our coaches to recruit the very best student-athletes in the Southern Conference. We rely heavily on the generosity of our alumni and friends to create a culture of success within Athletics as no state funds are received for scholarship aid within our programs. When alumni, friends, parents and businesses donate to the Catamount Club, those funds are used to provide scholarship aid for approximately 380 student-athletes in 16 varsity programs. Your support has a direct correlation to the success of our student-athletes, teams, and university as a whole.

Scholarships

Western Carolina University’s unwavering commitment to its students dates back to its founding in 1889, and the university is now serving more students than ever. Recruiting and educating an increasing number of students is at the core of the university’s “2020 Vision” strategic plan and an explicit objective to “fulfill the educational needs of the state and region in order to contribute to its economic development.”

Scholarships

Despite tuition increases, Western Carolina is consistently recognized as one of the nation’s most affordable universities in the South by U.S. News and World Report. And yet, there remain many worthy students from modest economic backgrounds who either cannot afford to enroll, or who have to borrow large sums of money to pursue and complete a WCU education, and who graduate with a sizeable debt.

We will not let financial challenges stand in the way of our current and future Catamounts discovering their potential. Your support is more important than ever to help ensure that a Western Carolina University education is accessible in perpetuity to all academically eligible students who want to become a part of the WCU community.

Make a gift today to provide scholarship dollars to the best, brightest and most deserving students.
