Testing Center

These exams are administered at WCU, but you register through the exam providers. Use their sites to find dates, pay fees, and secure your seat; choose Western Carolina University / Cullowhee as your location when available.

• GRE: Register at ETS GRE.
• Meazure Learning: Register at Meazure Learning.
• Pearson Vue: Register at Pearson Vue.
• Praxis: Register at ETS Praxis.
• PROV: Register at PROV Exams.
• TOEFL: Register at ETS TOEFL.

For WCU applicants (scores cannot be sent to other institutions).

• WCU fee: $89 (non-refundable).
• Retake limit: once every 60 days, max 12 total attempts.
• Typical start time: 1:00 pm (see dates when registering).
• What to bring: photo ID; non-programmable calculator allowed.
• Register: Register for ACT On-Campus (WCU portal). After paying, if not prompted for a date, email testingcenter@wcu.edu with your receipt and preferred date.

Earn college credit by exam. Check WCU’s credit policy on the Registrar site and the College Board for exam details.

• Exam fee to CLEP (College Board): (~ $89—see CLEP for current price).
• WCU test-center fee:
• $40 for scheduled dates (non-refundable), or
• $95 for special/non-scheduled appointments (non-refundable).
• When offered: Mon–Wed at 1:00 pm (confirm when registering).
• Retake wait: 90 days between attempts of the same test.
• What to bring: bring two IDs (primary government photo ID + secondary).
• How to register (2 steps):

• Register for CLEP (WCU Portal). After paying, email testingcenter@wcu.edu with your receipt and desired date/time.
• Create a CLEP account & purchase your exam; print and bring your CLEP voucher to WCU.

Credit-by-exam accepted by many institutions. Review your school’s DSST code and policies.

• DSST exam fee: paid on test day by Visa, Mastercard, or AmEx (Discover not accepted).
• WCU test-center fee: $40 for scheduled dates (non-refundable) or $100 for non-scheduled appointments.
• When offered: Mon–Wed at 1:00 pm (confirm when registering).
• Register: Register for DSST (WCU portal). After paying, email testingcenter@wcu.edu with your receipt and desired date/time.

Professional test proctoring for any distance learning student regardless of the college, university or school you attend.

• Proctored Exam fee: $25 for first three hours, $15 for additional hours
• When offered: The service is available Monday through Friday during normal business hours between 8am and 5pm by appointment only. 
• Register: Register for Proctored Exam (WCU Portal). After paying, e-mail testingcenter@wcu.edu with your receipt and desired date/time.

WCU administers ATI TEAS Version 7 (the version accepted by WCU Nursing).

• WCU test-center fee: $40, paid to WCU when you register.
• ATI exam fee: ~$70 + tax, paid on test day by credit/debit (subject to change).
• When offered: Mon–Wed at 1:00 pm (confirm when registering).
• Retake policy: once every 30 days.
• What to bring: photo ID; no calculators; have your ATI username/password or create one at the session.
• Register: Register for TEAS (WCU portal). After paying, email testingcenter@wcu.edu with your payment confirmation and your preferred date/time.
