CRW COVID-19 Operations and Procedures

The following information is to begin to inform the campus community about Campus Recreation and Wellness’s current operations and procedures, as several adaptations have been made due to COVID-19.  Please note these plans may change at any time based on new guidance and will continue to evolve.

COVID-19 information and protocols supersede, but do not disqualify, related CRW information and policies until further notice.  If you plan to use our facilities, please thoroughly read the information below and know we have increased our cleaning and disinfecting in accordance with current guidance.  However, we also expect participants to do their part to help prevent the transmission and spread of COVID-19. 

In light of the recent notification on August 3rd, 2021, from the Chancellor regarding face coverings, the CRC will follow these guidelines to continue to protect the health and safety of our patrons:

  • Face coverings will be required inside the Campus Recreation Center. Face Coverings will be required in Reid Pool until the patron enters the water.
  • We encourage our patrons to be mindful of their health and the wellbeing of others.
  • We will maintain our current cleaning procedures in order to ensure that the facilities are clean and safe.

We will continue to follow the guidance of the university moving into the fall semester.

Campus Recreation and Wellness currently has the following programs and services available.

  • The Campus Recreation Center and Reid Pool are available for use during Open Hours for any individual with a membership.
  • Group Exercise | The Group Exercise schedule is posted under Fitness and Wellness at reccenter.wcu.edu.  To register for our Group Exercise Program, visit myrec.wcu.edu
  • Intramural Recreational Sports |  The full schedule of offerings is posted at reccenter.wcu.edu, Intramural Sports (about Intramural Sports) prior to the start of academic classes each semester. To register for Intramural Recreational Sports, visit imleagues.com/wcu
  • Personal Training | Virtual and in-person personal training sessions are available. To register for personal training, visit myrec.wcu.edu
  • Outdoor Programs | Outdoor programs will offer outdoor programs/workshops and trips.  To register for these offerings, visit myrec.wcu.edu

Below is some more detailed information on our programs and services.

Campus Recreation Center

  • In light of the recent notification from the Chancellor regarding face coverings, the CRC will follow these guidelines to continue to protect the health and safety of our patrons:

    • All work out equipment will remain spaced to allow for distancing of participants at the CRC.
    • Face coverings for those who are fully vaccinated are optional.
    • We encourage our patrons to be mindful of their health and the well-being of others.
    • We will maintain our current cleaning procedures in order to ensure that the facilities are clean and safe.
  • Participants should wash their hands or use hand sanitizer frequently while in the CRC.
  • Participants are expected to disinfect equipment before and after each use, including all touch-points using the EPA approved Flex Wipes provided (knobs, upholstery, weight plates, etc.). 

  

Reid Pool Open Swim 

  • Reid Pool access will be open to WCU students, faculty/staff, alumni, and retirees with a valid CatCard during Open Swim hours.

CRC daily equipment rentals are available including locker keys, sporting equipment, fitness equipment and lawn games.

 

Outdoor gear rentals will be available be through the Adventure Shop during open hours.

 

CRW will continue to offer programming with some virtual programming that meets university guidelines. Please continue to check individual program web pages for program information.
