Reserve a Space

Hunter Library offers a variety of study rooms of different sizes that may be reserved in one-hour time slots by individuals and groups of up to 10 people. Each type of room has its own restrictions on the maximum number of hours reservable per day and per week, as well as how far ahead they can be booked.

When not reserved, the use of the rooms is on a first-come first-served basis. Individuals or groups MUST yield the rooms to users with reservations.


Student Study Rooms

Reserve an individual study room

There are 4 Individual Study Rooms on the ground floor.  Each room has a desk, chair, and shelving.   They can only accommodate one person.

  • These rooms can be booked up to 2 weeks in advance.
  • Maximum of 2 hours per day, 8 hours per week.
  • When you complete the reservation form, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provide (this must be an @catamount.wcu.edu email).

Reserve a Small Group Study Room

There are 7 Small Group Study Rooms located on the ground floor of Hunter Library in the area behind the elevator. These rooms are reservable by individuals and groups of up to 4 people - they are too small for larger groups. Each room contains a study table and chairs to accommodate up to 4 people, and is equipped with a SMART kapp Whiteboard - instructions for use of the SMART kapp are posted in each room.

  • These rooms can be booked up to 1 week in advance.
  • Maximum of 2 hours per day, 4 hours per week.
  • When you complete the reservation form, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provide (this must be an @catamount.wcu.edu email).

Reserve a large group study room

There are 6 Large Group Study Rooms on the main and ground floors that can accommodate 6-10 people depending on the size of the room and the furnishings - they may be reserved by groups of 4 or larger. Each room contains a conference table(s) and chairs, and is equipped with a SMART kapp Whiteboard - instructions for use of the SMART kapp are posted in each room.

  • These rooms can be booked up to 2 weeks in advance.
  • Maximum of 2 hours per day, 8 hours per week.
  • When you complete the reservation form, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provide (this must be an @catamount.wcu.edu email).

Reserve the Honors\GRADUATE Student Study Room

The Honors/Graduate Student Study Room HL 27 is reservable by WCU Honors or Graduate students only. The room seats up to 4 people, and is equipped with a SMART kapp Whiteboard - instructions for use of the SMART kapp are posted in the room.

  • This room can be booked up to 2 weeks in advance.
  • Maximum of 2 hours per day, 6 hours per week.
  • When you complete the reservation form, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provide (this must be an @catamount.wcu.edu email).
  • Come to the Circulation Desk to verify your reservation.

Reserve The Multisensory room

The Multisensory Room is located on the ground floor of Hunter Library in the area behind the elevator. These rooms are reservable by individuals and groups of up to 6 people - they are too small for larger groups. Each room contains a study table and chairs to accommodate up to 6 people.

  • These rooms can be booked up to 1 week in advance.
  • Maximum of 2 hours per day, 4 hours per week.
  • When you complete the reservation form, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provide (this must be an @catamount.wcu.edu email).


Faculty Study Rooms

Reserve Hourly Study Rooms

There are 2 Hourly Faculty Study Rooms on the ground floor.  Each room has a desk, chair, and shelving.   They can only accommodate one person.  These rooms are in the quiet zone of the ground floor so they are not intended for meeting or office space but for quiet individual research.

  • These rooms can be booked up to 2 weeks in advance.
  • Maximum of 4 hours per day, 8 hours per week.
  • When you complete the reservation form, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provide (this must be an @wcu.edu or @email.wcu.edu email).


Scholar Studio Spaces including Gaming Room

Reserve Gaming Room

Hunter Library’s Gaming Room is located on the first floor of the Library in HL 184. From the main elevator, you turn right, past the restrooms and the library's Electronic Classroom (HL 186). The Gameroom is on the left. When arriving for your booking, come to the Circulation Desk to confirm and check out any controllers, games, etc... you wish to use. We will also open the room for you at this time.

The gaming room has:

  • 2 eSports PCs with Valorant, League of Legends, Fortnite, Apex Legends, Rocket League, Overwatch, and Minecraft Academic Edition.
  • 1 Xbox with Apex Legends, Rocket League, Overwatch, PUBG, and Call of Duty: Warzone installed on the console.
  • 1 Playstation 5.
  • 1 docking station for a Nintendo Switch (the Switch itself is checked out at the Circulation Desk).

Available for checkout to complement the room equipment, we have:

  • 7 pairs of Gaming Headphones that can be used with the eSports PCs
  • 1 dedicated Xbox controller and 4 additional Xbox controllers that can be used with the eSports PCs or the Xbox. 2 DualSense controllers for the PS5.
  • Several PS 5 games: Call of Duty: Vanguard, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Spider-Man 2, Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut, PS4 Resident Evil VII, PS4 Read Dead Redemption II.
  • Nintendo Switch cartridges for: Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Super Smash Bros: Ultimate, and Mario Party Superstars.

Reserve Audio-Visual Recording Booths

The recording booths in the Scholar Studio are equipped with multimedia hardware and software for media production and editing. Both booths are set up for recording audio and/or video and include a computer, webcam, microphone, headphones, and other equipment. One booth contains a PC running Windows 10 and one contains an iMac running OS Catalina. The booths are for the use of WCU students, faculty, and staff.

  • Booths can be reserved for up to 4 hours a day and a total of 8 hours a week.
  • To access the booth at your reservation time, you will need to check out a key from the circulation desk on the main floor of the library.

Technology Commons Spaces Group Study and Meeting Rooms

Reserve a Tech Commons Group Study or Meeting Room

The Technology Common (located on the ground floor of the library) has 2 Group Study rooms that accommodate up to 8 people.

  1. Multipurpose Room - contains rolling tables and chairs, a whiteboard, a multi-outlet tabletop power adapter, and a wireless screen sharing TV. *Markers and eraser available at the TC Service Desk upon request.
  2. Zoom Room - contains a conference table, rolling chairs, whiteboard(s) a multi-outlet tabletop power adapter, and a DTEN Board for zoom, wireless sharing, and pdf convertible whiteboarding. *Markers and eraser available at theTC Service Desk upon request.
 
  • These rooms can be booked up to 2 weeks in advance.
  • Maximum of 2 hours per day, 8 hours per week.
  • When you complete the reservation form, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provide
  • Assistance and additional resources (chargers, webcams, mics, etc.) for these rooms can be requested at the Tech Commons Service Desk.
