How Do I Earn A Lily Community Engagement Award?

Lily Award Capstone Project

Students can earn the Lily Award by participating in service projects and reflecting on them. In order to complete the Lily Award, students will engage in service through a range of categories. These categories are comprised of several service experiences that fulfill the category requirements. This can all be found in Engage. Here are the steps to report a service experience:

  • Log into with your WCU username and password.
  • Click on the profile button in the upper right corner of your Engage homepage. This might be the first letter of your first name or your profile photo.
  • From the "Progress For" dropdown menu, select "Lily Award". If "Lily Award" is not an option for you, please let the CCESL know asap.
  • Scroll down and click on a "direct service" button that is not checked.
  • In the window that opens, click on the blue "report experience" button, then the link for "Lily Award: Direct Service IVP"
  • Complete the form that pops up then click "submit" at the bottom. Once your submission is approved by CCESL staff, you will get a notification from Engage. If your submission is denied, you will get a notification from Engage with an explanation like "duplicate submission"

From your Lily Award Dashboard, you can check your overall progress, register for an upcoming project, or submit a service experience that you did on your own for approval. Most importantly, have fun, serve, and learn!

Once you have completed the Lily Award requirements, you will be honored with the following:

  • Green Lily Award Honors cords for graduation (with a GPA of 3.25 or above)
  • Invaluable experience to discuss with future employers
  • Lily Certificate from the CCESL and an invitation to and recognition at the CCESL's Annual Community Engagement Awards Banquet

Students who wish to take a step beyond the Lily Award have the opportunity to complete the Lily Award with Distinction. Once you have earned the Lily Award, you will be eligible to complete the required qualifying capstone project. As a Lily Award with Distinction recipient, you will be honored with the following (in addition to the previously listed recognitions):

  • Purple Lily Award with Distinction honors cord (with a GPA of 3.25 or above)
  • A commemorative accolade
  • The opportunity to showcase your Lily capstone project
