North Carolina Community College Credit Transfer

How will your North Carolina Community College credit transfer to a WCU College of Business degree program?

A degree from the College of Business requires the completion of 120 hours for a baccalaureate degree including:

Explore the information below to learn about how your North Carolina Community College courses can satisfy requirements in each of these areas:

Liberal Studies Program

WCU's Liberal Studies requirements are waived for NC Community College graduates who earn an A.A. (Associate in Arts) or A.S. (Associate in Science) degree and most of the hours earned for those degrees will transfer. Graduates of NCCC with any other degree must satisfy the Liberal Studies program with either transfer credit or WCU courses.

Students who do not graduate with an Associate's degree, but who have course credit from the NCCC system, also must satisfy the Liberal Studies program with either transfer credit or WCU courses. WCU only awards credit for courses from other institutions in which the student earned a grade of C or better.

General Electives

WCU evaluated the common course library used by all of the NC Community Colleges for the transferability of credits. Courses listed without a WCU equivalent were evaluated and do not transfer, and courses not listed may not have been evaluated for transferability.

Remember, WCU only accepts credit for courses passed with a grade of C or better.

Frequently Asked Questions

The column on the left, entitled WCU Course Required, indicates specific courses that are required for a particular program at WCU. The middle column, Credit Hours, indicates the number of credit hours for the course. The column on the right, NCCC Equivalent, lists the courses at NC Community Colleges that will meet the WCU course requirement. Any of the courses in the column on the right that meet a requirement on the left will transfer for credit in that category at WCU.

If the column on the right contains the word NONE, it means that there is no NC Community College equivalent for that course. For example, a required course for all BSBA degrees in the College of Business is ACCT 251. It is 3 credit hours, and the NCCC equivalents are either ACC 120 or ACC 122. On the other hand, MGT 300 does not have a NCCC equivalent as indicated by the word NONE in the column on the right.

First, mark the requirements you have satisfied with transfer credit. Then count the number of credit hours remaining for the courses that are not satisfied, including the "NONES".
