Geography is a spatial discipline that examines the patterns and processes related to the structure of the Earth, its human inhabitants and the interaction between the two.  Encompassing both physical and human aspects, the geographic perspective enhances a wide variety of fields from the natural sciences and environmental studies to business, politics, health and education.

What You'll Learn

The discipline of Geography is the interdisciplinary science of spatial investigation.  Students may examine a variety of topics including climate and weather patterns, geospatial analysis, or regional cultural, political, economic and environmental issues.  The minor also introduces students to geospatial technologies including Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing.

The Geography minor consists ​of any 18 credit hours of GEOG courses. The 18 hours of GEOG courses required to complete the geography minor can be drawn from human geography, physical geography, or geospatial techniques courses.

Students of Geography will be adept at applying geographic reasoning to ​a wide variety of issues. This unique perspective makes them an asset in the work force with the ability to examine issues from multiple perspectives and a spatial point of view.
