Student and Professor in the Nurse Educator program

The Nurse Educator post master’s certificate is available for those students who have earned a Master of Science in Nursing (M.S. or M.S.N.) degree or those with a master’s degree in a related discipline. The Post-Graduate Certificate Program requires 19 semester hours of study and can be completed in five semesters. The number of nurse educator students admitted is based on available faculty and clinical resources.

What You'll Learn

This online Post Master's Certificate is designed to prepare nurses for the role of nurse educator with competencies in three educational areas: academic educator, staff educator, and patient educator. It requires 19 semester hours of study in areas such as Curriculum Development, Teaching and Learning, Nursing Leadership and Informatics. and can be completed in four semesters. Practicum placements are available in a variety of settings in or near the students' communities.

Where You'll Go

You'll have the opportunity to continue your clinical work at a public hospital or private practice or advance to administrative roles in the healthcare system. You'll also be prepared to teach postsecondary courses to the next generation of nurses, research best practice policies or pursue other professional opportunities.
